Power Sensors for IoT Bluetooth Testing

LadyBug Technologies’ LB479A and LB480A are ideal for testing Bluetooth devices. The sensors have very good dynamic range and are suitable for measuring radiated power as well as direct connectivity to the Bluetooth DUT. Both sensors provide statistical pulse measurement capability. This capability is ideal for manufacturing test systems where a quick numerical measurement of average and pulse power is required without complex measurement set up. The LB480A includes triggering features along with pulse profiling capability. LadyBug sensors can be ordered with a variety of connectors reducing or eliminating adaptor requirements, thereby increasing measurement accuracy.

Broadband LNA

The HILNA™ GPS C034 is a broadband low noise amplifier designed to achieve high gain while maintaining low noise and a high third order intercept point, and is specifically targeted for the L1 (1575.43 MHz) and L2 (1227.6 MHz) GPS signals. This ruggedized, high-performance module delivers 32 dB of gain across the frequency range of 1200 MHz to 1600 MHz with an OIP3 of +30 dBm and less than 1 dB of noise figure. The HILNA™ GPS C034 is also usable up to 2000 MHz with over 28 dB of gain.

26.5 GHz RF Downconverter

The SC5318A is a C to K broadband single-stage downconverter, converting frequencies from 6 GHz to 26.5 GHz down to 50 MHz to 3 GHz. The LO frequency range is from 6 to 26.5 GHz with an input LO range from 6 to 14 GHz. An internal frequency doubler multiplies the input LO range up to 26.5 GHz. This module also features an internal 26.5 GHz synthesized LO, RF preamplifier, and variable gain control, making it a standalone module. The SC5318A may be paired together for MIMO applications such as ground-based satellite communications, point-to-point radio, and test instrument systems.

Amphenol Ardent Concepts has released a new form factor of its TR Multicoax connector. The connector was designed specifically for solving signal integrity issues caused by serpentine trace routing from high speed devices. TR Equal Trace delivers superior signal integrity from multiple high-speed channels in an arched footprint, making it ideal for applications where equal and short trace lengths are imperative for performance tuning. In these cases, TR Equal Trace can eliminate the need to create complicated serpentine traces, helping to ensure signals reach their destination at the same time in data and clock routing for peak performance.

Capacitor: Vertical Electrodes

Passive Plus is now offering the 0708N (.065” x .080”) series capacitor. With vertical electrodes which increase bandwidth, these capacitors have low ESR/ESL, and high self-resonance. Uniquely designed for excellent heat transfer in high RF applications, the 0708N offers ultra-stable performance over temperature. These capacitors are 100% RoHS compliant and also available in tin/lead termination.

Model SAH-2434231060-358-S1-280-DP is a dual polarized, WR-28 choke flange feed horn antenna assembly that covers several popular 5G bands in the frequency range of 24 to 42 GHz. It features an integrated orthomode transducer (OMT) that provides high port isolation and cross-polarization cancellation and a broad band scalar horn that provides low sidelobe levels. The OMT enables the antenna to separate a circular or elliptical polarized waveform into two linear, orthogonal waveforms or vice-versa.

Up/Down Converters

Norden Millimeter’s next generation of broader band block up and down converters are used for extending the frequency range of existing ELINT, COMINT, RADAR, and testing systems. These converters cover the 17-26.5 GHz and 25.5-40 GHz bands with a full 1 GHz overlap with existing 18GHz systems and at the transition between bands. The upconverter has independent input IF and output RF attenuation for over 60 dB of gain control.  These attenuators are controlled by parallel attenuation bits on a rear power/control multi-pin connector.  Both converters offer best in class spur free dynamic range. The units use a single frequency external LO signal of 14.4 GHz.

E Band Externally Biased Quadrature Mixer

Model SFQ-60390315-1212SF-E1-M is an E Band quadrature mixer that covers the frequency range of 60 to 90 GHz. The typical conversion loss of the quadrature mixer is 15 dB with an LO driving power of +10 dBm. The typical LO to RF port isolation is 40 dB. Since the IF port of the quadrature mixer is DC coupled, the mixer can be used as a phase detector. In addition, the mixer can be readily configured into an image rejection mixer or single sideband modulator by adding an IF quadrature coupler.

170 to 260 GHz Faraday Isolator                                                               

Model STF-04-S1 is a full band Faraday isolator that operates from 170 to 260 GHz. The Faraday isolator is constructed with a longitudinal, magnetized ferrite rod that causes a Faraday rotation of the incoming RF signal. The Faraday isolator offers 30 dB typical isolation and 4.0 dB nominal insertion loss with good flatness. The return loss of the isolator is 15 dB. The input and output ports are WR-04 waveguides with UG-387/U-M flanges.

Cable Assemblies

Pasternack introduced a new line of military-grade MIL-DTL-17 RF cable assemblies that are ideal for avionics, military electronics, satellite ground stations and autonomous vehicles. Pasternack’s new series of military-grade cable assemblies consist of 124 basic configurations from six different cable types for a total of more than 700 part numbers that are all available for same-day shipment. These cables provide operating frequencies of up to 12.4 GHz and VSWR as low as 1.3:1 per connector. They are made from MIL-DTL-17 qualified cable, MIL-PRF-39012 qualified connectors, AS23053 heat shrink and J-STD soldering.

Automotive Radome Tester

Placement of radar sensors often involves compromises between vehicle design and sensor performance. They are therefore usually located behind brand emblems and bumpers or integrated into rear-view mirrors or other plastic parts. To enable reliable transmission of the radar signals despite the radomes, the radome material must be sufficiently transparent and homogeneous in the 77 GHz and 79 GHz bands. Otherwise, reflections and transmission attenuation in the radar sensor’s field of view will considerably impair sensor performance. The total amount of radar power that passes through the radome is a crucial factor.
